Clothing: Please keep in mind that this is a conservative, Christian conference. We want to present an appropriate image of who we are and who we represent. We will be meeting professional business, political, and media people, and we will visit the state capitol once.
What you should bring: Change of clothing for six days and five nights.
Jeans, Bermuda shorts (must be below fingertips when standing with hands at sides), skirts/dresses (must be at least at the knee), t-shirts, tennis shoes, sandals, jacket or sweater.
Girls: Straps on all tops must be at least three finger widths wide.
Business attire: Coats and ties for guys, dresses/skirts or business suits for girls are required for visit to the capitol (Saturday), and for the Saturday evening banquet. Flip-flops are NOT business attire.
*COTH staff will hold the final word on whether an article of clothing is appropriate or not.
What’s NOT appropriate?
Guys: Tank tops, baggy pants, underwear showing, hats while inside, or bare feet.
Girls: Strapless shirts, bare feet, tight shorts, pants, or tops. Belly-buttons showing or bra straps showing. Shorts, dresses, or skirts shorter than listed above in the “What’s appropriate.”
Please note: You will be participating in physical activities and you should not need to continually adjust your clothing to maintain modesty.
Cash: The cost for planned activities is covered in the conference tuition. However, students should bring some spending money for purchasing souvenirs, snacks etc. Students who are traveling should bring money to cover any additional meal costs.
Toiletries: Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, comb, shampoo, deodorant, etc.
Linens: Sheets, blankets, pillows and towels will NOT be provided by the campus dorms.
Please bring your own. Remember to clearly mark your name on all of your items.
Miscellaneous: Alarm clocks are a must! Cell phones are not permitted at COTH so bring another type of alarm clock. Bible, notebook, pens or pencils for note-taking, back-pack or book bag for carrying materials, water bottle, hairdryer, camera, watch, etc. You may want to bring flip flops for the shower area.
Talent Show: There will be a talent show on Friday night. Plan to participate! All performances will need to be approved by COTH staff. You must check in all items for the talent show. This is always a popular event, so come prepared! (Participation is no mandatory.)
What Not to Bring: Electronic equipment such as cell phones, iPods, iPads, Kindles, Tablets, laptop computers, printers, etc., are not allowed. If any are discovered, they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the conference. No weapons of any type are allowed at COTH, this includes pocket knives.
NOTE: Cell phones will not be permitted at COTH. Staff will monitor a staff cell phone that parents can contact in the event they need to reach their student. If your student is traveling to COTH, they may turn in their cell phone when they arrive so they have a way to communicate while they travel.
